The urban conflict in Gaza is currently being fought at close range and in built-up areas. Traditionally, this form of warfare negates any advantage one side may have over the other in armor, artillery or air support.

The IDF has long experience in urban warfare, which it calls LASHAB. The modern IDF warrior is trained extensively in this type of conflict, and is a force to be reckoned with.
