Modern U.S. Army Mine Resistant Ambush Protected Vehicles

In order to protect the troops deployed to Iraq and Afghanistan from the increasing and extremely deadly IEDs the U.S. Armed Forces issued a Joint Theatre Requirement for armor protected wheeled vehicles in late 2006. The intent of the MRAP (Mine Resistant Ambush Protected Vehicle) programme was to provide the operating forces with multiple mission-role platforms capable of mitigating IEDs, underbody mines and small arms fire as well as RPG-7 anti tank weapons threats. This publications shows this completely new U.S. military vehicle family in detail for the first time and with hitherto unpublished photographs!
